Wavy, infectious, cosmic, lush….are all appropriate adjectives when talking about Chrome Sparks‘ newest EP “Goddess”, yet somehow even these tags fall short of encapsulating the astonishing array of sound that has been channeled into this work. It seems as if Mr. Sparks travelled the world, collected the most enchanting sounds and instruments of humanity and re-interpreted them as he saw fit into his work. The EP starts slowly, gently caressing you into the eclectic, electric soundscape you are soon to be engulfed in. An indecipherable tribal chant washes over Tribal drums, birds, breathing and other earthly sounds, leading into a soft bass line that drops you into your body with the quiet force of a forest stream. The drumming within this EP is magical, showcasing Mr. Sparks shamanic ability to play with both rhythm and our emotion. Each track possess its own heartbeat; strung together, they carry us through our repertoire of feels. After listening to this EP you will feel both exhausted and energized. And you will probably find that you’ve been staring at the same spot on the ceiling for the last half hour.
